Tennis is a great sport! Tennis is a game for life!
A recent study in the British Journal of Sports Medicine found that people who play racket sports like tennis appear to live longer than their non-playing counterparts. According to the research, those who played racket sports had a 47 percent lower risk of dying from any cause than those who didn’t play. Swimmers had a 28 percent lower risk, and aerobics practitioners, a 27 percent lower risk.
The Junior Tennis has two sub-programs. They are:
1) Spring, Summer, and Fall Group Sessions, and 2) Junior Tennis Team
The Adult Tennis program has several sub-programs. They are:
1) Men’s Night, 2) Ladies Night, 3) Ladies Team, 4) Bi-weekly Friday Tennis Socials, 5) Tournaments, 6) Weekend Warriors, 7) Cardio Tennis, 8) and individual and group lessons.

Update on DSRC Tennis
Dear DSRC Families,
Here is an update on the numerous activities going on with Darnestown Tennis during the off-season and upcoming key dates and activities.
Our Tennis Pro from last season has moved on to other opportunities in California. Our new Tennis Pro is Teri Boragno. Teri is currently a Tennis Pro at Quince Orchard Pool and Tennis. She is a very qualified teacher with multiple Master’s degrees in teaching and Kinesiology from Johns Hopkins and the University of Maryland. She is also a certified teacher in Montgomery County Public School system. Teri was previously the DSRC General Manager and Tennis Pro from 2000 to 2006.
Teri knows the importance of coordination and communication with the tennis program and swim program and that having a successful Junior Tennis program depends on making it seamless for parents to enroll their kids in both swim and tennis. She is very excited about rejoining DSRC again and growing our Tennis Program.
The main goal of our tennis program is to grow our Junior Tennis team by providing our member’s children with high quality coaching at an affordable rate. As many of you know, Tennis is a lifelong sport with many benefits. In fact a recent study in the British Journal of Sports Medicine found that people who play racket sports like tennis appear to live longer than their non-playing counterparts. It is really important for our DSRC kids to learn, play, and love Tennis for a lifetime of fun.
This upcoming season, our Junior Tennis program will consist of four six week sessions (Spring, Junior Tennis Team, Summer, and Fall) starting on May 6th and running through October 20th. The cost for each session excluding JTT is $230 for one child, with a 10% discount for two children, and 15% discount for three children. The cost for the Junior Tennis Team is $200 per season for one child, with a 10% discount for two children, and 15% discount for three children.
There are a number of new cracks on the courts. We’ve walked the courts with our court repair company and they have sent us a quote for the repairs. Those cracks will be repaired throughout the month of April, weather permitting. The seam crack on court #3 is as wide as the Grand Canyon, making that court unplayable until the repair is made.
We plan to replace the net mechanisms and nets this season but our schedules and the weather has not provided a convenient day to do the installation.
All of the privacy screens have been re-tied. The screens on court #1 courts #4 and #5 dividers need to be replaced. We will order those shortly.
Spring Junior Tennis
Registration is open for Spring Junior Tennis. The Spring Session starts on May 7th, so get your child registered! More details can be found on the Junior Tennis page from the main navigation.
FIT to HIT and Weekend Warriors and Individual and Group Lessons
The Tennis Program will be starting in earnest in late April. Keep an eye out for announcements.
Ladies Tennis Team
The DSRC Ladies Tennis Team is registered and ready to begin competitive play on May 3rd.
The second the weather warms up, Pickleball on Sundays at 9am will resume.
