Welcome to the DSRC Tennis Program
Join us for our OPEN HOUSE at the Club
Saturday May 6th, 10am-12noon
With 6 outdoor, lighted, hard courts, DSRC Tennis offers a full season of tennis programs for both Junior Tennis and Adult Tennis enthusiasts. Whether you or your kids are beginners, advanced players, or somewhere in between, there is a program for you and your entire family. Each class offered is dynamic, fun, and informative!
Tennis is a great sport! Tennis is a game for life!
A recent study in the British Journal of Sports Medicine found that people who play racket sports like tennis appear to live longer than their non-playing counterparts. According to the research, those who played racket sports had a 47 percent lower risk of dying from any cause than those who didn’t play. Swimmers had a 28 percent lower risk, and aerobics practitioners, a 27 percent lower risk.
The Tennis year at DSRC runs officially from April 1 through Thanksgiving. There are 2 major Tennis programs:
1) Junior Tennis, and 2) Adult Tennis.
The Junior Tennis has two sub-programs. They are:
1) Junior Tennis Team, and 2) Future Stars Group Sessions.
The Adult Tennis program has several sub-programs. They are:
1) Men’s Night, 2) Ladies Night, 3) Ladies Team, 4) Bi-weekly Friday Tennis Socials, 5) Tournaments, 6) Weekend Warriors, 7) Cardio Tennis, 8) and individual and group lessons.
More details on each program are located throughout the Tennis section of the website.
Update on DSRC Tennis
Dear DSRC Families,
Here is an update on the numerous activities going on with Darnestown Tennis during the off-season and upcoming key dates and activities.
Our top priority over the winter, was to find a great Tennis Pro for our club and we are confident we have done that! We are pleased to announce Juan Pablo “JP” Garcia as the DSRC head tennis pro. JP is a young and enthusiastic Pro who is experienced at teaching all levels and types of players. He had success in the Junior Davis Cup and International Tennis Federation Tournaments. Most recently he was the Head Tennis Coach at the Hong Tennis Training Center in Gaithersburg. JP says “my goal as a coach is to make sure that all my players fall in love with the sport, strive for excellence, and great sportsmanship.”
Another benefit DSRC gets with JP is that he can continue support our membership during the winter months. JP, through his affiliation with Service Line, has access to the indoor courts at Quince Orchard and Georgetown Prep for clinics and lessons. Service Line is the premier Tennis organization in the County and its tremendous tennis resources will be available for JP to draw upon.
There will be more on JP in the coming weeks, but we are extremely excited to have JP and his team on board at DSRC!
The main goal of our tennis program is to grow our Junior Tennis team by providing our member’s children with high quality coaching at an affordable rate. As many of you know, Tennis is a lifelong sport with many benefits. In fact a recent study in the British Journal of Sports Medicine found that people who play racket sports like tennis appear to live longer than their non-playing counterparts. It is really important for our DSRC kids to learn, play, and love Tennis for a lifetime of fun.
This upcoming season, our Junior Tennis program will consist of four six week sessions (Spring, Junior Tennis Team, Summer, and Fall) starting on May 8th and running through October 21st. In order to invigorate the Junior Tennis program, each session will cost just $180 per child, with discounts for multiple children per family. That’s 12 group tennis lessons for only $15 per lesson! More details can be found at dsrclub.com under the Junior Tennis menu.
Registration for all four sessions will be on Saturday April 22nd from 10am-12noon, and Saturday May 6th from 10am-12noon at the Club, where you and your child can meet JP. In addition to the four six week group sessions, JP will provide individual lessons and other fun events.
Adult Tennis will continue to feature Men’s night, Ladies night, Monday night Cardio, Weekend Warriors on Saturdays, and bi-weekly Tennis Socials. See the website for more details.
Court resurfacing is done and looks beautiful. Come and enjoy the new surface and try your hand at Pickle Ball on courts 4 and 5.
