Head Coach Pat Tozzi and Assistant Head Coach Noah Garvey will lead the swim team this summer. Swimmers on the team will participate in competitive swim meets in a fun, exciting, and encouraging atmosphere. All DSRC family members up to age 18 can participate on the swim team and young DSRC swimmers up to age 7 can sign up for preteam or group swim lessons. We are excited for another great season!

Our pavilion is available for rentals for member parties during the summer. In order to rent the pavilion, you must contact the general manager at gm@dsrclub.com and fill out a party rental contract. Rentals are first come, first serve.

2024 Camp GreenZone

General Camp Overview

Camp GreenZone is a multi-sports program (swim, tennis, basketball, kickball, Frisbee golf, flag football and soccer) with arts-n-crafts, nature and games for children of members ages 4-13 (must be 4 years old by June 1, 2024.)

Camp runs in one-week sessions from around mid June to end of August, and is available:

  • Full Day: 8:30am – 3:30pm
  • Half Day: 8:30am – 12:00pm or 12:00 – 3:30pm
  • Before and After Care: 8 – 8:30am and 3:30 – 6pm
    Before and after care registration will take place in the spring, before camp begins, via a separate form that will be emailed to all registered campers. Campers must be registered for before and after care prior to their week of camp beginning.

2024 Session Dates: 

  1. June 17 – 21    *If Montgomery County Schools have makeup day(s) we will refund a prorated amount for those day(s) of camp. Camp will begin the first day that Montgomery County Schools are out for the year
  2. June 24 – 28
  3. July 1 – 5         *pro-rated, no camp on 7/4     FULL-DAY FULL
  4. July 8 – 12       FULL-DAY FULL, HALF-DAY FULL
  5. July 15 – 19     FULL-DAY FULL

Campers will need to provide their own snack/lunch (Lunch time is around 11:15am) and will be split up by age groups for some daily activities.

Special Offering of Camp GreenZone:

  • Sibling Discounts: 5% off of 2nd camper, first camper pays full price
  • Multi-Week Discount: 5% of each week if you register for more than one week of camp
  • CIT Program for rising 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th graders. CITs are responsible for assisting counselors with running camp activities. 20 SSL hours will be awarded per week for full participation.

Weekly Programs

5 Days of Camp:

  • Full Day: $375
  • Half Day: $200
  • Before/After Care: $10/per camper per hour

CIT Program:

  • Full Day: $225

Total Number of Campers Per Week:

  • Full Day – 30 campers
  • Half Day – 3 campers
  • CIT’s – 3

Before/After Care Fee Structure

  • In order for Camp GreenZone staff to be prepared and properly staffed, all before/after care must be registered in advance using the before/after care form.
  • $10 per child per hour, camper must be registered for before/after care by 3pm on the Friday prior to their week of camp beginning. For example: if your child is enrolled in camp beginning Monday, July 10th then they must register for before/after care by 3pm on Friday, July 7th.
  • Any child not enrolled by 3pm on the Friday prior to their week of camp beginning will be charged $13 per hour per child.
  • Before/after care is fully refundable up until the Friday before your week of camp begins at 3pm. If your child has camp on July 10th and you registered for before/after care in advance but have a change and no longer need it we will give you a refund up until July 7th at 3pm.
  • Before/after care registration will take place around Memorial Day and will be emailed out to all camp registrants.

Refund Policy

DSRC keeps a non-refundable processing fee to help cover our administration costs associated with registration. This policy is not meant to be punitive but is in place to ensure that families only register for Camp GreenZone with the intention of attending and not just as a placeholder. We have had a lot of cancellations in past years, and it becomes very hard to replace a camper once summer approaches.

    • If a camper withdraws before March 1st camper will receive a refund minus a $25 per week processing fee
    • If a camper withdraws between March 1 and May 31 camper will receive a refund minus a $40 per week processing fee
    • No refund will be given for any camper that withdraws after May 31
    • If DSRC must cancel camp for any unforeseen reason, all campers will receive a full refund

 

Sunscreen Policy

  • Campers should have sunscreen applied prior to arriving at camp. We will also have campers reapply sunscreen several times throughout the day.
  • Each camper’s parent/guardian must provide written permission for use and application of sunscreen on their child. Without this, DSRC staff are not allowed to assist with sunscreen application/reapplication.
  • Sunscreen containers must be clearly labeled with the camper’s name.
  • If your child forgets sunscreen or bug spray, we will assume that it is okay for your child to borrow from a friend. If your child has any product restrictions, please email Alyssa at camp@dsrclub.com.

I am excited to be returning as the DSRC Camp GreenZone Director for 2024! 

I will continue to create a safe and fun-filled environment for this summer. We will swim, do crafts, play tennis, basketball, flag football, soccer, and many more games. If you have a favorite sport, craft or camp activity you like, be sure to let me know! I am always open to feedback and will do my best to incorporate all that you hope to get out of camp.

Camp will run from mid-June through the end of August, and I can’t wait to see you again! I look forward to a great summer!

Are you curious about the fastest growing game in the country?  It’s popular for many reasons.  It’s easy to start playing once you know the rules, there are many levels of play so people can find groups of their own level to have fun and lastly, it offers great exercise.

Pickelball Information

What the Heck is Pickelball:  Everything you need to know to start playing the fastest growing sport in America at DSRC.

Pickelball is a paddle sport played with a whiffle ball and is a combination of tennis, ping pong, and badminton.  It is a great workout, competitive, social, inexpensive, and a whole lot of fun for everyone. There are a few simple rules and it’s easy to get started.  The sport has longer rallies, less intense physical demands, more opportunities for court banter, and men and women can play together. Though easy to learn, pickleball provides endless opportunity for individual improvement and learning subtle techniques. Take a look at the videos linked above to get a feel for the game.

The club provides paddles and balls in the snack bar, and courts 4 and 5 are lined with pickelball lines.  Your family can play anytime. Organized games are played on Sundays at 9:00am, Mondays at 6:30pm, and Thursdays at 6:30pm.

Junior Tennis Programs, Schedules & Registration

Our youth tennis programs normally run from May 1st – October 31st, and have something for all ages 4+. Our current clinic offerings are below.

Our Summer Junior Tennis is an intensive six-week team environment, similar to the DSRC Swim Team.  Kids practice every weekday and have a tennis match once a week.  There are team events, such as pep rallies, team t-shirts and end of season party. Junior Team Tennis allows kids to have fun, be on a team, enjoy team spirit, make friends, and learn to love tennis for a lifetime.

ALL PLAYING LEVELS ARE WELCOME! If your tennis player is nervous or not quite sure if they are ready, please send them for a trial run. We strive to make the JTT an inclusive, fun environment.

Do you need a racquet for your child?  Fret not, we sell them in the tennis office and will get them fit with the proper size.

The Summer Junior Tennis is one of DSRC’s hallmark programs and is open to DSRC members, ages 4-18 and all levels! This is a fabulous program to get a tennis racquet in the hands of our youngest members and keep it in their hands until they graduate from highschool!!!  As a member of Summer Junior Tennis, athletes will hone their skills on ALL basic tennis strokes and learn how to structure and play points to experience success in tennis competition. Tennis is a challenging sport to learn….this opportunity will allow your young human tennis success. All members will participate in weekly practice stroke technique as well as learn strategies to help them win the point! This will be accomplished by a mixture of stroke production practice, strategy sessions and some good old fashion fun!

Practices will be aligned with swim team age group practice times. It is the desire of the Club for our young members to experience the best of both of these amazing sports.

All levels are welcome to join the! If for some reason, your athlete is nervous, send them out for a trial session…we have a 100% return rate! Also, regarding tennis racquets, please see Head Tennis Pro.

Disc Golf

Get Out There and Play!

In 2007 The Darnestown Demon Disc Golf Course was added to our property by General Manager Dave Hardy and Course Architect Dan Haines. Together they took the 16 acres owned by DSRC and have made it into an 18 hole disc golf course. The course was originally 9 holes and was transformed into 18 holes in 2009. Our course provides a variety of different shots, elevation changes and terrains making it a difficult, but beautiful, course. The Demon plays along a creek for 4 holes, and in and out of the woods, using fields to complement the heavily wooded shots.

The course is open to the public year round. Donations are welcome and will go directly to the maintenance of The Demon course. Dan and Dave continue to work to manicure and upgrade the course on a weekly basis, the course continues to improve and is playing itself into one of the premiere disc golf courses in the Washington, DC area.
